Score one for games!
This new study just showed that play first-person shooters (like EA’s Medal of Honor) can actually improve eyesight. They found that the same increases in dopamine and adrenaline that get us excited about playing the game in the first place simultaneously help “improve visual acuity.” Simple enough! So now Daphne Maurer and the rest of her team are exploring way to develop non-violent games specifically to increase the chances of improving eyesight.
I’m super excited to hear this, and I’m looking forward to keeping up with her research.
